As with all gifted authors and great stories, what you take away from a story changes perspective at different points in your life. If you haven't read these in the past decade or more, and you liked them the first time around, you might wish to revisit them. I picked up on much that I'd missed the first time around with both The Witching Hour and Lasher. I quickly realized how interconnected all of her Vampire Chronicles and the Mayfair Witches stories are! So back I went to reread all of the Mayfair Witches series. Not from the main branch of the family, but as we learned with Mayfairs, that is seldom reason to assume ANY Mayfair lacks "gifts". That led me to Vampire Chronicles #7: Merrick. Having just picked up "The Prince Lestat", I realized it has been a very loooong time since I read much of Rice's stuff and I'd forgotten a number of salient points.
